BronxCare Family Medicine Residency Program

BronxCare’s Family Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to cultivating competent and compassionate family medicine physicians. The Program is committed to establishing a foundation where residents will know how to navigate the constantly changing landscape of medical practice and become healthcare advocates for patients and their families. The residency program prepares physicians for community-based primary care by integrating their practice within the South Bronx community: an undeserved, impoverished, yet resilient set of neighborhoods. Our graduates are educated and trained to navigate the constantly changing field of family medicine. By graduation, our residents will be health care advocates for the family unit and, most importantly, capable of exercising clear judgment, critical research, and exceptional case management of their patients’ care.

BronxCare Health System’s Department of Family Medicine offers one of the most comprehensive family medicine residency programs in the country. In addition, the residency program is one of the largest residency programs across the country and residents come from all over the world to take part in the program. The program is comprised of 16 residents per year in addition to our  transitional year program consisting of 5 residents annually. Residents receive the highest quality of education and experience by rotating through our five outpatient clinics and inpatient service under the guidance and mentor-ship of over 30 attending physicians.
